Dixie Jean Clairday

April 8, 1950 — June 12, 2020

Dixie Jean Clairday of Bay, Arkansas passed away peacefully at her home on Friday June 12, 2020.

Dixie was born on April 8, 1950 in Belzoni, Mississippi to Hershel and Pearlie Mae Pyles who preceded her in death. The fourth oldest of 9 siblings, she grew up in Ruleville, Mississippi.

She was the home maker of the household and the glue of the family. She was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed going on mission trips to do God’s work. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, and writing poetry. She was the best poet! Most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 34 years, J.L. Clairday; her loving daughter, Dixie Jean Spence and her loving sons Thomas White, Jeremy Clairday (Michele) and Hubert Midkiff. She was preceded in death by her brothers John Smith and Ricky Woods. Her surviving siblings are Floyd Smith, Randall Woods (Connie), Tommy Woods (Linda), Myrtle Minton, Margie Reed (Ronnie), Kay Lyles, and Fay Harwood. She found tremendous enjoyment spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
