Jackie Carroll Hilburn, 70, of Jonesboro, died November 3, 2009 at his home. He was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro since1968, moving here from Walnut Ridge. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge # 129, an all-star state tackle for two years; 1957 and 1958. He was recently honored for 29 consecutive wins while playing for the Walnut Ridge Bobcat Football Team. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran and was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ruth Hilburn and one son Tommy Hilburn.
Survived by his loving wife of 41 years; Margaret Hilburn of the home;.
Son; Tony Sterling and wife Debbie. Two daughters; Debra Fegtly and husband Don, Jennifer May and husband Steve.
Grandchildren; Karen Freeman, Michael Sterling and wife Tiffany, Jonathan Fegtly, Justin Fegtly, Drake May and Jackson May.
Great Grandchildren; Cody Noe, Nathan Freeman, Allison Sterling, Haven Freeman, Ashlyn Freeman and Jacob Sterling.
Brother; Gary Hilburn and wife Dianne. Sister; Betty Cathy and husband Ray. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday November 6, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Brother Bill Waterman and Brother Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Thursday November 5, 2009 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Henson, Fred Dowless, Bob Hutcherson, Dick Hilburn, Sam Hilburn, and James Tanner. Honorary pallbearers include: Bill May, Mike Montgomery, Tom Hilburn, and Gerald Caraway.
