Jimmy Lewis
James Richard Lewis Jr., 44, of Jonesboro died Saturday June 18, 2016 at his home. He was born February 22, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Barbara Lewis, but lived in Jonesboro for the last 42 years.
Survivors include his parents, a sister, Lisa Ann, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was the oldest Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy patient in Arkansas, and one of the oldest in the United States at the time of his death.
Jimmy was a loyal Kappa Alpha Fraternity Alumni for many years. He was in “Whos Who in American Universities” and a member of the Order of Omega Society.
A graduate with honors from Arkansas State University, he attended law school in Memphis. While there he had a role in the movie “The Rain Maker”.
As his disease progressed, he didn’t let it get him down. He wrote music and was recorded in England. He always had a positive outlook, and followed the model “It is what it is”. He will be missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday June 23, 2016 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
