Josephine A. Beatty

Josephine Anne Beatty, 69, of Jonesboro was welcomed into Heaven on Monday, February 4, 2013, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer.

Josephine was born on March 19, 1943 in Bedford, Ohio to the late Steve and Marie Prusinski Zisk. She lived in Canyon, Texas for several years, and she had lived the last 22 years in the Jonesboro area. She was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, “Ms Jo” will be best remembered as a Kindergarten teacher’s aide at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and Blessed Sacrament Daycare. She loved to travel, work in her flower beds, sew, and crochet. Her friends and neighbors, including those from the Extension Homemaker’s Club, the Wellness Center, and her Water Aerobics class were a cherished part of her life. Her sweet loving personality and beautiful smile will be missed but never forgotten.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by two sisters, Stephanie and Patricia Zisk. She is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Wooten and her husband Joe, Patty Nelson, and Sherri Beatty all of Jonesboro; Joe Beatty of Jonesboro, to whom she was married for over twenty five years; two sisters, Rose Skurla and her husband John of Danville, IN; Florence Kozub and her husband Jack of Parma, OH; and five grandchildren, Eric, Tyler, and Brenna Wooten, Alyssa Nelson, and Miles Beatty; six nieces and nephews, Christy Runkel, Jenny Foltz, and Jeff Skurla, and Michael, Karen, and Gina Karanicolas, and a host of other family and friends.

A Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 4:30 pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel, with visitation to directly follow from 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be 10:00 am Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Jack Vu officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Building fund, 614 South Church Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401; or Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, 400 East Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401, or the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Josephine A Beatty.
